Currently, it is a very common species in different parts of the world, since its wood is highly exploited for the manufacture of products such as cork. It has a thick and rough bark. Over time the crust becomes very thick.

Bonsai characteristics
The Cork Oak Bonsai or Quercus is an outdoor tree, so it has to be exposed to the elements all year round, except in summer where we can place it in semi-shade.
Although it resists the cold very well, the ideal is to keep it protected from frost.
It is an evergreen tree, medium-sized and very long-lived, which can live between 150 and 250 years.
Its origin is the vicinity of the Mediterranean Sea, including North Africa, southern Europe and parts of Asia.
The fruit is the acorn. It blooms in April or May and sometimes diffusely until summer and fall.
It has a thick and rough bark, which is the one that in standard-sized trees are usually used to make cork.
