Perlite is a mineral of volcanic origin that due to its properties has the ability to expand at high temperatures. The water trapped inside the perlite particles expands the mineral when heated to the appropriate temperature, giving it lightness. Expanded perlite is a product with a pH close to neutrality and very low electrical conductivity. It is a very light product with high porosity that is used in mixtures of growing substrates that lightens and increases the aeration capacity of the substrate. Type A-13 expanded perlite is 3 to 5 mm grain size expanded perlite.

Hola, buenos días. Hace unas semanas compré dos sacos de 100L de Perlita (junto con 250L de turba rubia) para airear y soltar la tierra que tengo que es muy arcillosa. Ya lo he utilizado y los resultados han sido muy buenos; pero la pregunta sería si la perlita puede ser perjudicial para utilizar en cultivos de hortalizas de consumo propio, como es mi caso (que pueda tener algún grado de toxicidad para el fruto o hortaliza) Gracias por su atención
